The Minister of Housing and Chairman of the Bahrain Economic Supply Projects H.E. Eng. Basim bin Yacob AlHamer presided over the Bahrain Economic Supply Projects’s weekly meeting today, at which matters related to various government tenders were discussed. Afterwards, the Opening Committee of the Bahrain Economic Supply Projects opened 58 bids related to 14 tenders for 9 purchasing authorities.

One tender was opened for the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning (Municipalities Affairs) pertaining to the supply of emergency suction tankers during rainfall, whereby the contractor shall clear flooded areas as directed by the Ministry Supervising Officer. 10 bids were received for this tender. One tender was also opened for the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning (Works Affairs). The tender, for the supply of liquid chlorine to Tubli Waste Pollution Control Centre, received 1 bid.

The Opening Committee opened one tender for Ministry of Information affairs, to replace consumable items such as batteries for UPS at the Ministry premises and avoid any interruption in television and radio transmission. One bid was received for this tender.

One tender was opened for the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA), related to the provision of heavy vehicle drivers and unskilled workers for a period of three years, for which 8 bids were received. Two tenders were also opened for the Central Stores Directorate- EWA. Two bids were received for a tender pertaining to the supply of equipment for smart meters, and one bid were received for the supply of station bus coupling module parts for the Riffa substation.  

In the oil and gas sector, four tenders were opened for Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco). The first, for the procurement of Mange Engine Software products with three years support and maintenance, received one bid. The second tender was for the procurement of a specialized reliability consultant to provide a library of refining best practice asset strategies and train Bapco employees on asset management methodologies. Two bids were received for this tender. Eleven bids were received for a five-year term contract to provide fire/job watchers, safety wardens and safety officers in the company’s operating areas; and four bids were received for a tender requesting the supply of various types and sizes of electric cables for project requirements.

In the same context, two tenders were opened for Tatweer Petroleum. The first, for marine transportation services to deliver a drilling rig and associated equipment to Hawar Island to dig a new exploration well, received three bids. The second, for the installation of online gas chromatograph at ADP and RDP junctions, received one bid.

Finally, one tender was opened for the provision of temporary tent structures, interior décor, furniture, air conditioning units and other equipment to the Bahrain International Circuit in preparation for the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2020 and 2021. Six bids were received for this tender. 

The tender process was attended by representatives of the bidding companies and companies participating in the tenders. In line with the Bahrain Economic Supply Projects’s guidelines on integrity and transparency, the bids will be assessed on all relevant technical and financial criteria before being awarded to the best fit candidate.
